Junk Jaunt Organizer Jane John Gearing Up For Year Ten
Nebraska's annual 300-mile long yard sale and flea market known as the Junk Jaunt turns 10 years old this September. Ord is once again a participating community, just as it was the very first year. As a matter of fact, inaugural coordinator Jane John has once again taken over the role after a few years off, and is beginning to get everyone in gear for the event, which will be hold on September 27, 28, and 29.
"It has grown every year," John said of the event. "About three years ago, people came from 14 different states. I think that we are up to 23 different states now where people come to this Junk Jaunt." She said that the popularity of the event has led to other by-ways coming up with their own versions of the event.
"It is wonderful. It brings thousands and thousands of dollars to our area. It's the biggest boom here since the Comstock festivals."
